In cooperation with the Personal Data Protection Authority ("KVKK") and the Association of Payment and Electronic Money Institutions of Turkey, the ‘Data Protection Guide for the Payment and Electronic Money Sector’ ("Guide") has been introduced.
The Guide for the Payment and Electronic Money Sector aims to ensure that data controllers in the sector are guided correctly in order to ensure that personal data processing activities carried out by payment and electronic money institutions are carried out in accordance with the law and secondary regulations and to establish good practice examples within this framework.
The purpose and scope of the Guide is
a. to determine what personal data processed in the sector,
b. who are the data controller, data processor, data subjects in terms of these personal data,
c. general principles, processing conditions, transfer of personal data,
d. obligations of the data controller, and
e. to bring together good practice examples and suggestions from the sector
under the headings of data security.
The scope of the Guide includes evaluations on personal data processed in the context of processes related to electronic money transactions, money transfer service, POS payment service, bill payment intermediary services and mobile payment services among the services provided by the sector.
